# Add a gradient background

Create or apply a gradient background with stops, presets, and handle controls.

## Goal

Apply a gradient background that adds depth without reducing screenshot readability.

## Prerequisites

- A source screenshot is imported.
- Background controls are accessible.

## Steps

1. Open gradient controls and set background mode to `gradient`.
2. Start from a preset or recent gradient.
3. Adjust type:
   - `linear` for directional blend.
   - `radial` for center-focused blend.
4. Edit stops:
   - Select a stop and adjust color.
   - Add stops up to 5 if needed.
   - Remove stops until at least 2 remain.
5. Adjust handles (angle, center, radius) until screenshot contrast is clean.

## Verify Result

- Background mode is `gradient`.
- Stop transitions are smooth and intentional.
- Foreground content remains legible in high-contrast areas.

## Quick Rollback / Undo Path

- Undo stop/color changes.
- Re-apply a known good preset.
- Disable background to compare against base composition.

### If gradient feels noisy

- Reduce stop count.
- Keep angle/center changes subtle.
- Use a simpler preset as baseline.
