# Layout and crop settings

Detailed composition controls for ratio, crop, placement, and orientation.

This page explains the canvas layout and crop settings in detail.

## [Ratio and crop](/content/docs/editing/layout-and-crop#ratio-and-crop/index.html)

| Setting | Options or range | Notes |

| Crop preset | `freeform`, `original`, fixed ratios | `freeform` lets you crop freely. `original` keeps the source ratio. |

## [What to know](/content/docs/editing/layout-and-crop#what-to-know/index.html)

- Changing ratio also changes how crop behaves.
- Rotating orientation can swap final export width and height.
- Strong tilt and perspective usually need a quick crop cleanup afterward.

### [Practical sequencing](/content/docs/editing/layout-and-crop#practical-sequencing/index.html)

Set ratio first, then crop, then position and scale, then apply final tilt/straighten touches.
